21 - 27 July 2017 | Institute of Contemporary Arts, London
Exclusive screening of documentary on Joseph Beuys
The Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) will be screening Andres Veiel’s documentary ‘Beuys’ from 21 to 27 July for the first time in the UK. The one-of-a-kind chronicle explores the work and vision of German artist Joseph Beuys.
In the documentary ‘Beuys’, German filmmaker Andres Veiel gives an intimate insight into one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, his art and his political ideas. Using previously unutilised audio and visual material, Veiel creates a unique montage of Joseph Beuys’ life 30 years after his death.
Born in 1921 and died in 1986, Joseph Beuys was a German conceptual artist, sculptor and professor at Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. His art and the discourse it creates continue to be socially relevant today.
Andres Veiel lives in Berlin and received numerous awards for his documentaries, motion pictures and theatre plays.
